Welcome to a Year of Words

I am a word person.
No surprises here that I choose a word of the year.

I have a tradition of beginning a new year with a fair bit of contemplation.  I typically have two weeks off in December which gives me time and space to ponder. Plus, I am a Capricorn, which means my birthday coincides with the end of one year and the beginning of the next, also a reason to reflect and dream.

Late December and early January seem like a natural time to go inward and examine.

To toss about ideas and plans for a new year.

To listen to our guides.

The sun travels through the sky at a low angle on winter's short days.

We are gaining sunlight as January plays her cold magic.

Let us take this time to declare ourselves.

And this is when I pick a word that sets a theme for the upcoming year, a set of intentions that might mark how my heart will seek meaning and opportunities.

My word for this year is:  Explore.
And also:  Nourish.

I picked two. I can do that right? "Explore" came first. It's power buzzed through me. A strong word of movement and adventure. Of not settling, which I think I do. Then "Nourish" kept showing up. Everywhere. Her gentleness enveloped me.

This year I will return to writing, on a blog. This blog.  The theme will be how my intentions of Explore and Nourish show up in my movements, thoughts, choices, fears and desires.

Journal Prompt:  This year I want a whole lot of _________.

I like to take pictures.
